UConn: Breaking Records…One Floor at a Time

,

With a total of 13 championship titles combined under their belt, the Men’s and Women’s Huskies are setting records and taking names. The women completed the season with a record 9 championship wins, and a perfectGampel-Pavillion-300x225 40-0 record. The men won their 4th championship title, and although the No. 7 seed didn’t have a perfect season like the women’s team, what set them apart from No. 8 Kentucky was their ability to work together as a team.  In an interview after their win, Huskies Guard Niels Giffey stated “We had a deeper bond. It was a lot about going to the next level and playing for the university and the teammates. I am so proud of the guys that stuck with this team. We believe in ourselves and that is the only thing that mattered. I remember Shabazz after that Louisville loss, he went back in the locker room and said we are going to cut down some nets, I promise you guys. I looked into his eyes and we believed him. We knew what it would take.”

Robbins knows something about teamwork. Both the UConn Men’s and Women’s basketball teams have played their home games on a Robbins Springaire™ floor at the Gampel Pavilion since 1990. Over the past 24 years, UConn and Robbins have teamed up for not only their game floor, but several other recreational areas as well. And with the construction of a brand new 78,000 sq ft Basketball Development Center underway, the Huskies will be well equipped to continue their winning streak in the next basketball season. The Basketball Development Center, which is scheduled to open this summer, will boast 24,000 sq ft of Robbins Bio-Channel Classic flooring installed by Robbins exclusive dealer in CT, Dalene Flooring. Both the men and women’s teams will each have a court of their own to practice on.  Because of the excellence we strive for in building the best floor system on the market, at Robbins, we not only build floors, we build champions. Beneath the surface of a shiny hardwood floor with gamelines and school logos, is a well engineered subfloor consisting of just the right amount of mechanical features that provide protection for the athlete. The subfloor build-up is critical to the longterm health of the athlete since the floor can have a significant impact on joints, muscles, and the endurance of the player. Proper construction of the floor is a science, and with over 100 years of continued improvement to the mechanics of our floors, Robbins understands what is necessary to achieve a floor that not only looks great on camera, but also improves performance and enhances endurance of the athlete. For this reason, a broad list of players including; Kevin Ollie, Trey Burke, Anthony Davis, Michael Jordan, and many others not only start their career on a Robbins floor, but continue it as well.  For these reasons, we are certain with the new floor and facility, the Huskies will come out even stronger and better next season.

We congratulate both Coach Auriemma on his achievement of the perfect season, and Coach Ollie and the UConn Huskies on a much deserved championship titles!! Let’s see if they can do it all over again in 2015!
