Robbins Sports Surfaces LLC Celebrates Installation of New Gym Floor at Aspen Ridge Middle School

Gym floor features maple flooring sourced from Michigan forests

ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP, Mich. (January 23, 2026) – Representatives from Robbins Sports Surfaces LLC visited Aspen Ridge Middle School to celebrate the completion of a new maple gymnasium floor, installed just miles from the company’s local manufacturing operations and crafted from Michigan-sourced materials, on Friday, January 23, 2026.

The visit brought Robbins employees together with students, teachers and school leadership from the NICE Community School District, offering a firsthand look at the finished floor and highlighting the deep, multi-generational ties between Robbins and the local community. Many Robbins employees either attended schools in the district themselves or have children and/or grandchildren currently enrolled.

“This project means a lot to us,” said Jeff Adriano, Robbins Plant Manager based in Ishpeming. “My kids went to school here, and so did many of the people who helped produce this floor. Knowing that something made right here will be used every day by this community is incredibly meaningful.”

The newly completed gym is adorned with 10,710 square feet of Robbins’ BioChannel® Star EQ system with Continuous Strip® XL maple flooring. The maple was sourced from Michigan forests and manufactured in Michigan and Wisconsin, continuing a long-standing tradition of Robbins supplying gymnasium floors for local schools dating back to the 1970s.

Sold and installed by Foster Specialty Floors of Wixom, Michigan, the project reflects a collaborative effort to deliver a high-performance, durable surface designed to serve both students and the broader community for years to come. In addition to school athletics and physical education, the gym is regularly used for community events, youth programs and seasonal activities, particularly during Upper Peninsula winters when indoor gathering spaces are essential.

Robbins has maintained a presence in the Ishpeming area since 1947 and has supplied flooring to multiple facilities across both the Ishpeming and NICE school districts over the decades, reinforcing its commitment to quality, community investment and local manufacturing.
