The Product Support Specialist will make Robbins successful by serving as a key member of the Product and Technical Services team to support the continued efforts for product quality and exceptional customer satisfaction. This person will work closely with, and be the go-to person, for customers, dealers, sales managers, customer service, and manufacturing.

The Product Support Specialist will have a high level of technical product knowledge and will be involved in a variety of product and technical support activities including: product conceptualization, implementation of products & services into the marketplace, and collaboration with Sales, Marketing and Manufacturing. This role requires a proactive mindset to continually improve technical support efficiencies and identify opportunities for process improvements.

Essential Functions:

  • Monitor common product/installation issues and look for solutions
  • Manage information contained within Robbins Online Information Center and Buy Design order entry program
  • Create, update, and maintain product specifications, drawings, installation instructions, and other technical documents as necessar
  • Seek feedback from sales and technical service regarding market needs, customer needs, etc.
  • Prepare and present product designs including schematics, layout, and manufacturing process flow diagrams
  • Answer incoming technical phone calls and technical sales lead questions as necessary
  • Write Technical Letters to assist in customer issues as necessary
  • Train/communicate/present to plant personnel, dealer representatives, etc., on revised products, processes or procedures
  • Assist in new product launch and communication strategy with assistance from sales and marketing
  • Create 3D product renderings for product Marketing & Sales purposes
  • Assist in the market readiness of newly developed and altered products with consideration for fit and finish of product, weight, structural integrity, production rates and other details
  • Assist in installation/sales video production
  • Attend select trade shows and other events focused on market solutions, competitive products, and services

Additionally candidates must have the following skills or attributes:

  • Possess good working knowledge of manufacturing processes, departments and factors contributing to design and installation of products into the marketplace
  • Possess strong technical knowledge and hands on skills
  • Effectively work with peers in adjacent functional areas including, Technical Service, Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, Customer Service, etc.
  • Possess excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, must be proficient in programming in Auto-Cad and Solidworks
  • Possess strong oral and technical writing communication skills
  • Display good judgment and decision making skills
  • Possess good business acumen

Personal qualifications include:

  • 5 plus years of experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Experience in wood related design or flooring design/installation a plus
  • Ability to lead others
  • High level of motivation
    • Demonstrated self starter with the ability to work through others to accomplish objectives

The work environment resembles that of a typical office regularly requiring the employee to sit, stand, walk, stoop and use office equipment and computer with related tools.  This position requires moderate travel via car and/or plane as needed.  Travel primarily to manufacturing, construction, or customer locations.  Business may be conducted after normal business hours during meals or recreational time.  Employee may be required to lift, carry, and package items weighing up to 50 pounds.  Regular exposure to production or construction environment may require use of personal protective equipment including head or eye protection.
