Continuous Strip XL450 Featured on Two New Robbins Systems
Cincinnati, OH,
April 26, 2004 Just one decade ago, few individuals in the sports flooring industry would have dreamed the market would accept an advanced finger-jointed maple strip for gyms and sport facilities. But, Robbins took a gamble and developed what is known today as Continuous Strip® XL Maple — a patented finger-jointed maple strip now installed in well over 40 million square feet of sports and recreational facilities in the U.S. Averaging 7 feet in length, Robbins Continuous Strip XL takes sports flooring uniformity and strength to the next level of play. In studies conducted by Purdue University, XL Maple Strip, has 75% fewer end joints, and creates a floor system nearly three times stronger then standard commodity random length maple. In addition to strength, XL maple is straight and uniform to provide the owner a better looking floor in less time to install. In addition, Continuous Strip is graded by Robbins to exceed the minimum standards of the MFMA. Now Robbins is introducing the newest addition to the Continuous Strip XL family - XL450. Manufactured in the same traditional 2-1/4” face width as its traditional 25/32” big brother, XL450 has its own set of bells and whistles. "New XL450 is specialty graded in a new look we call LEGACY. "It really shows off the natural beauty of the maple and is a preferred look for those looking for a unique floor." According to John Williams, VP of Manufacturing for Robbins, “LEGACY is the equivalent of 2&Btr. Grade. It has a natural color variation and makes an extremely attractive floor” Robbins has wear-life down to a science. XL450 is precision-manufactured with exceptional milling tolerance. Because it is so precise, XL450 provides the same amount of wood “above the tongue as 3/4” material and offers identical life-expectancy as commodity random length maple. According to Williams, XL450 “when installed and maintained per MFMA guidelines should last the life of your building.” What about stewardship of our natural resources? Recent renovations of wood floor in 50-60 year old buildings are revealing some interesting facts. The thickness (wear life) in these old floors is surprisingly intact yet fastening procedures and water damage requires them to be removed after decades of use. Unfortunately, much of this wood is placed in landfills. Because of its unique profile, XL450, today, provides similar life-expectancy yet uses 33% less lumber to make…. and less to remove and dispose of fifty years from today. XL450 is the future of sports flooring and Robbins Bio-Channel LP and Bio-Cushion LP system can go anywhere in your facility that requires the championship performance Robbins Systems have offered.
